- TheNational Instruments NI-9871is a 4-Port, RS485/RS422Serial Interface Moduledesigned to add serial ports toCompactRIOsystems. In this model, the serial ports can be accessed directly from the FPGA to bring users the flexibility required in communicating with serial devices. TheNI 9871 modulecomes with individual buffers on each of its ports that simplify programming and save FPGA space. Also, the module can be programmed using the LabVIEW Full Development System for Windows. This module offers a standard start/stop bit and handshaking settings and utilizes an external power source to provide users with maximum achievable reliability and compatibility under all serial port conditions.
