ITEM OVERVIEW
Up for sale is a fantastic piece of American industrial history: a vintage mid-century Square D Company heavy-duty Safety Disconnect Switch box. Manufactured in Detroit, Michigan, this rugged single-throw fusible box features thick steel construction and an amazing authentic weathered patina. It makes a stellar display piece for a garage, an addition to an industrial antiquities collection, or raw material for a custom steampunk home decor project!TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAILS
Brand: Square D Company (Detroit 11, Michigan)
Catalog No: D 96351 / Series No: A1
Rating: 30 Amps / 230 Volts A.C.
Era: Late 1940s / Early 1950s (Interior label explicitly references the 1947 National Electrical Code)
Mechanics: Features the iconic heavy metal side-operating pull handle mechanism.
Labels: Includes the original metallic exterior logo faceplate and the highly detailed interior technical wiring schematic/inspection sheet.CONDITION
Good, authentic vintage condition. We are assuming it works since it came straight out of a clean storage unit, but it is being strictly sold as-is because it is currently untested. The heavy steel enclosure shows a great natural aged patina with minor scuffs, character marks, and surface oxidation giving it that perfect industrial look. The interior paper label is remarkably well-preserved and completely legible. Sold strictly AS-IS / untested as a vintage collectible for parts, restoration, or display.SHIPPING AND HANDLING
This is a solid, heavy block of mid-century American steel and carries significant weight. It will be wrapped securely to preserve the faceplate and internal labels. Calculated shipping is applied at checkout to ensure accurate postal rates to your destination.
