It is a safety part, so do not run a heavy rotary implement without one.The female end is 1 1/8 inch six spline and slides onto the tractor shaft; the male end is 1 3/8 inch six spline for the implement, so it also steps the size up. It is rated to about 75 horsepower on a 540 or 1000 rpm shaft, is about 6 1/2 inch long, is held by a cross pin, and has a grease fitting and spring loaded internal keys.Check your tractor shaft first. If your tractor already has a 1 3/8 inch power take off, this is not the right coupler. Made to fit Ford 2N, 8N, 9N and the NAA and Jubilee, and Made to Fit Ferguson TE20 and TO20 tractors, which use the 1 1/8 inch six spline shaft. It crosses to 48A27 and A&I A-48A27.
