Hubbell Chance PSC4032916 Wireless Phasing Set (WPS), Built by Bevins (Used)

A used CHANCE Wireless Phasing Set, model PSC4032916, sold by Hubbell Chance and built by M.W. Bevins Co. of Tulsa, OK. The set is two hot-stick-mounted units, a MAIN and a PROBE, that link to each other over digital radio (up to 300 ft apart per Hubbell). It tells you whether two conductors of the same nominal voltage are in phase or out of phase, with no cable between the units.

What you'll get (as pictured)

MAIN unit: face marked Cap. TP and PSC4032915, with range LEDs for 600V, 4, 15, 25, 35, 69, 115, 161, 230, 345 and 500 kV, a PWR button and the Hubbell Power Systems and Chance logos
PROBE unit: face marked WPS Probe and 2916P, with OUT PH, COM and IN PH LEDs and a PWR button
Both units have grey universal hot stick couplings, orange extension tubes, FCC ID labels (OUR-XBEEPRO) and their warning labels

Orange Hubbell Chance "Lineman Grade Tools / Think Safety" two-compartment carry bag with hook-and-loop flap. Both Bevins "Wireless Phasing Set Model #PSC4032916" info labels are still in their pockets on the flap.

Not included: batteries (each unit takes 2 AA), instructions, the voltage indicator tester, and any other adapters or probes. If it isn't pictured, it isn't included.

How it works (per Hubbell/Bevins literature)

WPS (phasing) mode: uses the MAIN and PROBE together. Once the blue COM LEDs go solid (linked), touching two conductors shows a green "In-Phase" or red "Out-of-Phase" reading on both units. A phase difference of 10 degrees or more reads as out of phase.
ARVI mode: uses the MAIN unit by itself as an auto-ranging voltage indicator (same function as the Chance PSC4032915). It shows the approximate phase-to-phase voltage class on the range LEDs and has an automatic hold mode.
Rated 480 V through 765 kV AC, 50/60 Hz, phase-to-phase nominal, including capacitive test points. For overhead and underground systems with the right adapters.
Adjustable audible alarm, auto-off, and a battery drawer on each unit
Hubbell lists it as not suitable for hi-pot testing. It is for use on insulated hot sticks only.

Condition

Used. Both the MAIN and PROBE units power on, and both battery compartments are clean with no corrosion. The heads look clean, and the faces, FCC labels, warning labels and Bevins stickers are all intact and readable. The orange carry bag is very dirty and stained from field use (see photos 2, 3 and 5), but it is still usable. No batteries are included (2 AA per unit). I did not field test the wireless linking or phasing function, and calibration is not verified, so plan on recalibration if your work requires it. The photos show the actual item you will receive.
