$300.00

Series: Parker Bayside Stealth PX
Frame: PX34 / NEMA 34
Ratio: 3:1
Configuration: Inline planetary gearhead
Revision: Rev A
Likely: A factory/customized or serialized configuration, based on the long suffix L2210212N0154.

The core part designation is particularly informative:

  • PX — Parker Bayside's Stealth PX gearhead family.
  • 34 — NEMA 34 frame size.
  • 003 — 3:1 reduction ratio. Parker's PX ordering system uses 003 for 3:1.What the gearhead does

This is a precision mechanical speed reducer intended to mount between a servo motor and a driven machine. Its purpose is to reduce the motor's rotational speed while increasing the available output torque.

With a 3:1 ratio, for every three revolutions of the motor input, the gearhead output turns approximately once:

    Motor input: 3 revolutions
    Gearhead output: 1 revolution

Ideally, the output torque is approximately three times the input torque, less mechanical losses. Parker specifies the PX family at over 90% efficiency, so the actual torque multiplication will be somewhat less than the ideal 3× value.

For example, at 3,000 RPM motor speed:

    • Input = 3,000 RPM
    • Output ≈ 1,000 RPM

    At 5,000 RPM:

    • Input = 5,000 RPM
    • Output ≈ 1,667 RPM

Parker lists maximum input speeds of up to 5,000 RPM for the Stealth PX family.

    Gear technology

The PX is not simply a basic spur-gear reducer. Parker describes the Stealth PX as using helical planetary technology. This arrangement uses multiple planetary gears sharing the load around a central sun gear, which allows the gearhead to provide relatively high torque in a compact package. The helical gearing also contributes to smoother and quieter operation than a conventional straight-tooth planetary arrangement.

Parker positions the PX specifically as a relatively economical gearhead for servo-motor applications, particularly applications that don't require the extreme performance specifications of its larger PS series.
